Booking & Consultations
Q: How do I book a tattoo consultation in Winnipeg?
At Albert Street Tattoo, each artist books their own clients directly. We recommend browsing artist portfolios and contacting the one whose style best fits your tattoo idea.
Q: Do I need a consultation before getting a tattoo?
We suggest consultations for all custom tattoos. It’s a chance to discuss your design, placement, and budget so your artist can create a piece tailored to you.
Q: Do you accept walk-in tattoos at Albert Street Tattoo in Winnipeg?
Yes, we offer walk-in tattoos when artists are available, usually between 11 AM and 5 PM, Tuesday through Saturday. If we are booked, we will provide information to get into the next available spot.
Q: What is the minimum age for a tattoo in Manitoba?
Our policy is that clients must be 18 or older to receive a tattoo.
At our discretion, we may consider exceptions (for example, 16–17 with parental/guardian consent) depending on the artist. Government-issued ID will be required. Please let your chosen Artist know you are under 18 so they can discuss accordingly.
Q: What if I need to reschedule my appointment?
We require a minimum of 72 hours notice to reschedule any appointment to another date. If you or your Artist are sick, your retainer will apply to your rescheduled appointment, with one rebook permitted per project. See our Booking Policy for additional information.
Pricing & Payments
Q: How much does a tattoo cost in Winnipeg?
Tattoo pricing depends on size, detail, and time required. Small tattoos start around $150, or the available artists' minimum charge, while larger or complex designs are typically priced by the hour.
Q: Do tattoos cost more in color than black and grey?
Not necessarily. Pricing is based on the time and detail involved, not just color; some color pieces can take longer due to layering.

Tattoo Experience
Q: Do tattoos hurt?
All tattoos involve some discomfort, which varies by placement and personal tolerance. Areas with less muscle or fat, like ribs or ankles, may feel more sensitive.
Q: Are walk-in tattoos more painful or different from booked tattoos?
No, the process and sensation are the same. Walk-in tattoos are usually smaller, so they may be quicker and easier to sit for.
Q: How long does a tattoo take to heal?
Surface healing typically takes 2–3 weeks, while full healing under the skin can take up to 6 weeks. Following aftercare instructions helps ensure the best results.
Aftercare & Touchups
Q: How should I care for my new tattoo?
Your artist will provide detailed aftercare instructions before you leave the studio.
Q: Do color tattoos fade faster than black and grey tattoos?
Lighter colors such as yellow and pastels may fade sooner than black ink. With proper care and sun protection, color tattoos remain vibrant for years before a touch-up may be desired.
Q: Do you offer free touch-ups?
Yes, we offer free touch-ups within the first 3 months if needed. Please contact your artist directly to make arrangements.
